  • 2 cups cooked salmon flaked
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ¼ cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • For the White Sauce:
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Pinch of nutmeg optional

Instructions
 

  • Step 1: Preheat and Prepare
    - Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    - Grease a loaf pan lightly to prevent sticking.
  • Step 2: Make the Salmon Loaf Mixture
    - In a large mixing bowl, combine the flaked salmon, breadcrumbs, eggs, milk, onion, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
    - Mix thoroughly until well combined.
    - Transfer the mixture to the prepared loaf pan and press it down evenly.
  • Step 3: Bake the Salmon Loaf
    - Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes or until firm and golden on top.
    - Take it out of the oven and let it cool slightly before cutting into slices.
  • Step 4: Prepare the White Sauce
    - Heat a small saucepan over medium heat and melt the butter.
    - Stir in the flour and whisk until the mixture is smooth, cooking it for about a minute.
    - Slowly add the milk, whisking continuously to prevent any lumps from forming.
    - Cook until the sauce thickens, about 3–5 minutes.
    - Season with salt and nutmeg if desired.
